Q: I have a book by Henry W Lowngfellow it's (The Building of the ship Illustated)

in was printed by Boston Fild Osggo & co.in 1870 Im trying to find what it is woth

A: I'll answer as best as I can here. What it's worth is based on a few factors, condition, collectible nature, market flux, and publication. There were few copies on the net for sale and "THE BUILDING OF THE SHIP" was not named specifically in any of the reference books I have. To extrapolate from what I do have and not knowing the condition of your copy I'd put an insurance value++ on it of $50.00 if it is in a Fine or better condition.

The best thing to do is to have it professionally appraised. Try asking a local insurance agent or a head librarian who they would recommend. No guarantees, but they may be able to point you in the right direction.

I found this listing on the net that is similar to your book.

Henry W. Longfellow - THE BUILDING OF THE SHIP - Fields, Osgood - Boston 1870 - FAIR Condition - 1st/Spine sunned - rear board cracking - Gilt Edged - $35
-
C. Clayton Thompson - Bookseller
584 Briarwood Lane
Boone NC 28607

++Insurance Value - The cost of replacing an item with a like item. Insured against damage, fire, or other loss. Not to be confused with a retail price.
