No sooner than I reopen after moving servers, than Mother Nature strikes my area with a flood. 6 inches of rain in less than 3 hours. 10 inches all together in one day. I don't know who Mother was mad at but I got cought in the crossfire.
I took 5 days for the water to recede enough for me to get back to the office, and another 4 before I could cross the bridge to the little warehouse I rent. For 9 days the village that I live in was an island with half of it under water.
When I was finally able to get out to the warehouse, I found that about 75%, or about 30,000 books, had been ruined out of the 50,000 that were stored there. The water rose to about 3 and a half feet, and the books up to about four feet soaked up water from the ones below.
So for these reasons I have taken the complete database off line. Starting Monday I'll be doing a complete inventory of what is left. Because of possable secondary water dammage I'll be scrutinizing every book with a fine tooth comb.
So expect that I'll be holding a second 'Grand Opening Sale' in late August. Just in time for back to school.
